Tottenham Hotspur won their FA Women’s Continental League Cup group with the only goal of the game at Southampton.

GROUP A – Manchester United 4-0 Sheffield United

GROUP D – Charlton Athletic P-P Crystal Palace

GROUP E – Southampton 0-1 Tottenham Hotspur

Just needing to avoid defeat to pip Reading to top spot, Spurs came close when a Kerys Harrop header clipped the Saints’ crossbar.

Nikola Karczewska got through to give Spurs a 26th-minute lead, slipping the ball pool past Kayla Rendell.

Manchester United signed off with a comfortable defeat of Sheffield United.

Adriana Leon bagged a first-half brace, back-heeling in from an Aïssatou Tounkara effort, before finishing off a sweeping move by slotting in Lucia Garcia’s cross.

Ellie Wilson conceded an own-goal from a cross by Martha Thomas, who got the fourth herself with a shot on the turn.

The Blades then had a better spell and Courtney Sweetman-Kirk came closest to a consolation, but Sophie Baggaley got enough on the nutmeg to stop it ending up in the back of the net.
