Spurs Ladies have added another two players to their squad ahead of the new 2018/19 FA Women’s Championship season.
Versatile defensive player Anna Filbey, 18, arrives from Arsenal’s development team while forward Angela Addison, also 18, steps up from C&K Basildon in the FA Women’s Premier League South, where she was among the top scorers last season.
“Anna is a versatile player who can operate in the middle of the pitch but also plays in central defence,” explained manager Karen Hills.
“Although she’s still very young, she gained some experience with Arsenal’s first team, who are obviously one of the top sides in Women’s Super League, last season, so she’s got that expertise from an early age and that puts her in good stead to come over and gain even more valuable experience with us.”
Hills is excited by Angela Addison’s potential, saying: “She’s not the biggest in stature but she has a fantastic ability to go past players in the final third. She’s not afraid to take players on, she’s scored a couple of fantastic goals in pre-season already and has fitted in very well.”
“It’s another step in the right direction to be able to bring in talented young players,” she added. “It’s exciting and it shows where we’re at. These girls want to play in the Championship and they’re more than capable of doing so. Obviously there’s still a lot to learn for everyone, but in the squad we’ve got that no fear attitude and that’s a good trait to have.”
