Sports Direct NIFL Women’s Premiership: Cliftonville close in on leaders

Monday’s matches in the Sports Direct NIFL Women’s Premiership saw Crusaders Strikers beat Mid Ulster and Cliftonville win at Linfield.

Cliftonville moved within three points of leaders Glentoran with a 2-0 victory at Linfield but it took a special effort from distance by Toni Leigh Finnegan to make the breakthrough in the second half.

Hannah Doherty made sure of the points when doubling the lead, as the visitors made full use of their game in hand on the leaders.

Fourth-placed Crusaders put three goals past Mid Ulster, who slip to next to bottom on goals scored.

Leah McEvoy opened the scoring, with Julie Nelson extending the advantage before the break and Mairead McCann later getting the third goal.
