Courtney Sweetman-Kirk has signed a new deal after winning Sheffield United’s Golden Boot and Manager’s Player of the Season award.
Sweetman-Kirk ended the last campaign as the club’s top goal scorer with 14 goals, third outright in the FA Women’s Championship with a total of 11 across the season.
The 31-year-old former FA Women’s Super League forward was also named Manager’s Player of the Season by Neil Redfearn for her contributions and the Blades head coach has tied down a key player ahead of the new season.
With 22 goals overall in her two seasons with the club, Sweetman-Kirk has been an ever-present in the side, not missing a game since signing in September 2020, culminating in her making her 50th appearance in red and white against Crystal Palace on the final day of the season.
Speaking about signing a new deal, Sweetman-Kirk said: “I’m buzzing to be back. Everyone can see I’ve enjoyed myself this season and as long as I’m scoring goals, I’m happy.
“It was a no-brainer for me when I sat down with Redders, I’ve immensely enjoyed my time here.”
Head coach Redfearn also spoke of his delight at his vice-captain and top scorer staying for at least another season.
“Courtz has been fantastic since she’s come in and it’s a great signing for us. She’s committed herself and for me she’s the best striker in the Championship, she has top-flight experience and her goal record is second to none.”
