Sheffield United have signed defender Jodie Hutton from last season’s Barclays Women’s Championship winners Bristol City.
The 22-year-old made 17 appearances for Bristol City as they won promotion, having also helped Aston Villa go up in 2020.
Used primarily as an attacker at Villa, but able to play left-back, Hutton scored two hat-tricks in two games against United back in 2019, coming with an eye for goal and adding quality down the team’s left-hand side.
The former England youth team international said: “I’m buzzing to be here. I’m delighted to finally get it done and dusted and I’m ready to go for pre-season. I know most of the girls, I’ve played with a few, I’ve been messaging them non-stop waiting to get going.
“I’ve known Jonathan [Morgan] for quite a long time and it’s been a time coming where I finally get to play for him. It makes me more excited and one of the reasons I signed because I saw what he did last season.”
Head coach Jonathan Morgan commented: “Jodie brings a lot of experience for such a young player. She’s been playing she was 16 at Aston Villa and she’s already been promoted from this league twice already.
“She understands the ins and outs of this league and how to get the job done and for me it’s another key signing because she’s naturally left-footed, she can play up and down that left side of the pitch and has a lot of creative ability.”
