Sheffield United have signed 22-year-old attacking full-back Abbie Lafayette from former Championship side Watford.
She had joined the Hornets last summer after a successful spell with Ipswich Town, earning a move up to the Barclays Women’s Championship where she played in 20 games in season 2023-24.
Her dangerous set-pieces brought an assist against the Blades last term, while she scored against London City Lionesses.
Lafayette said: “I’m really excited. It’s been a really smooth transition, I’ve met a couple of the guys already and really settled in, so everything’s been great.
“Last season was a difficult season, but I really think I showed myself the best I could towards the end of the season which really helped me. It’s a season I think I can be proud of and I think there’s a lot I can bring to the team.
Head coach Ash Thompson said: “We are delighted to bring in a player of Abbie’s quality and future potential. She had a great season last year in the Championship and was one of the top performing players in her position.
“She is a great addition to the club and the team and she’ll have a great impact on our way of playing this season.”
