Sheffield United Women re-sign defender Ali Johnson after she endured an injury-hit 2019-20 campaign.
The full-back made seven appearances for United last season but has been a regular in pre-season while training back with the squad and is fit and fresh ahead of the Blades opener away at London City Lionesses.
The 21-year-old had spells with both Liverpool and Bristol City in the WSL before joining the Blades last summer, and Johnson is looking forward to getting back down to business with team mates both old and new.
“I never really got going last season looking back. I’m a new player and new person all around now. I’ll continue to move forward, knocking down barriers along the way as I’ve already showed in pre-season.
“It’s been overwhelming. The girls and the staff have been so welcoming and it’s like I never left.”
Blades head coach Neil Redfearn added: “Ali gives us good balance. She’s naturally left-footed, she’s got a fantastic left foot. She’s got a great range of passing and can play a couple of positions which is always good.
“She adds competition to the squad and obviously she brings good quality because she’s played at the highest level, so it’s a good addition for us. I think she feels she has something to prove, which is a good thing. We know what she’s capable of, she’s got great ability and it’s just about being consistent and keeping herself fit for the whole season, but I know she’s capable of doing that.
