Sheffield United Women midfielder Alethea Paul will miss the rest of the season after suffering an ACL injury in training last week.

The 22-year-old, who joined the Blades from Manchester City in 2018, has made 37 appearances for the club over the past two-and-a-half seasons.

Paul, who has been a constant presence in the Championship side over the past couple of seasons, will shortly undergo an operation and begin her rehabilitation process ahead of a return to action next season.

Head coach Neil Redfearn told sufc.co.uk: “It’s a huge shame for Thea. She’s worked really hard after missing the first couple of games and it was such an innocuous thing to happen during training. We’ll support her in her rehabilitation and we wish her a successful recovery.”
