The USA made it three wins from three with a 3-1 defeat of Japan to secure the SheBelieves Cup, while England’s Women went down 1-0 to Spain.

Phil Neville’s side could not make anything of their first-half opportunities, with Ellen White blasting over the bar before both she and Nikita Parris just failed to connect with a Jordan Nobbs ball into the box.

After the restart, Carly Telford was forced into a brave save by Ainhoa Moraza, while Chloe Kelly came off the bench and dragged a shot wide.

The decisive moment arrived in the last ten minutes, as Player of the Tournament Alexia Putellas met a corner with a bullet header to see debutants Spain finish in second place.
