An injury-hit Glasgow City managed to beat Hibernian 1-0 at Ainslie Park on Friday night and go top of the Scottish Building Society SWPL.
It was a first defeat of the season for the morning leaders an a fourth win from four for Scott Booth’s side, who now lead the table by two points with a game in hand on Hibs, despite fielding three players carrying injuries.
Hibernian’s Rachael Small was denied by the crossbar in the first half, while Clare Shine should have put City in front and Jenna Fife blocked a Kirsty Howat effort with her legs.
The only goal came 18 minutes from time when Hayley Lauder’s corner was headed in by Leanne Crichton.
Hibs went very close to an equaliser but the bar intervened again to thwart Kirsten Reilly.
