Portugal and Spain are the latest to book their places at the UEFA Women’s U-17 Championships in Bulgaria after clinching their Elite round groups on Friday 29 March.

A Lara Pintassilgo goal just 5 minutes into the game with France was enough to see Portugal win Group 5. Any chance of a late equaliser was dented when France’s Assimina Maoulida was sent off for a second caution in the dying minutes.

In the same group, Northern Ireland went down 2-1 to Czech Republic. Jennifer Hilbertová’s opener was cancelled out at the start of the second half by Caitlin McGuinness but Andrea Holá hit the winner on 65 minutes.

Spain were 3-0 winners over Poland to take the Group 3 top spot, Sara Carrillo Moreno bagging a brace after Salma Parraluelo scored the first goal.

Sweden finished third in the group having edged Slovakia 1-0 with an Evelina Duljan effort.
