Veteran France international goalkeeper Sarah Bouhaddi has joined Arsenal having last appeared for Paris Saint-Germain in 2023.

The 37-year-old made 149 appearances for France, won four awards for the best women’s goalkeeper in the world and spent 13 hugely successful years at Lyon.

Bouhaddi told www.arsenal.com: “I’m delighted to be joining Arsenal and to become part of this great club. Arsenal has so much history across both the men’s and women’s teams and I’ve always admired the club.

“I’m excited to get the opportunity to play in a league that is going from strength to strength and I want to bring my experience to help the rest of the squad. I can’t wait to get started.”

Head coach Jonas Eidevall said: “We’re really pleased to bring Sarah to Arsenal to help us over the coming weeks. There aren’t many goalkeepers in world football with the breadth of experience and knowledge that Sarah has, so we’re delighted to bring her in to supplement our goalkeeping options.”

Director of Women’s Football Clare Wheatley said: “Sarah is a vastly experienced international goalkeeper and we are very pleased that she was available to join us on this short-term deal.

“She has a proven track record at the highest level of the game and we believe she is the perfect player to come in for this period.”
