Salford City Lionesses go top of the North West League

Salford City Lionesses lead the North West League on goals scored from Tranmere Rovers after a 4-4 draw at Crewe Alexandra.

Feiruz Abdullahi scored all four for Salford, Crewe equalising three times and Laura Garner got a hat-trick before her free-kick lead to Seren Redmond making it 4-4.

Cheadle Town Stingers lost top spot with a 2-0 home defeat by Curzon Ashton, Tranmere went second with a 2-2 tie at West Didsbury & Chorlton.

Promoted Blackburn CSC picked up their first points 3-0 at Fleetwood Town Wrens, FC United of Manchester won 2-0 at Mossley Hill Athletic.

Wigan Athletic welcome Darwen to Ashton Athletic FC for a 7.30pm kick off on Thursday 1 September.

Preston North End went top of Division 1 North with all five goals at Morecambe, leaving them goal-difference ahead of Penwortham Town (held 1-1 at home by Sir Tom Finney) and Accrington Stanley (1-0 winners over Chorley Development). Haslingden got the only goal of the game against Bolton Wanderers, Workington Reds registered a first point in a goalless game at Carlisle United.

Chester beat Northwich Vixens 4-1 in front of their record crowd of 240 to stay top of Division 1 South, goal-difference ahead of Warrington Wolves who defeated BRNESC 4-2. Runcorn Linnets’ 3-0 victory against Alder brought their first points, Altrincham also got off the mark when edging Wythenshawe Amateurs 1-0.

Tonight (Thursday 1 September) sees Hindley host Bury at 6.45pm.

Meanwhile in the Eastern League, Haringey Borough made it two wins from two in the Premier Division, defeating Harlow Town 5-2 as Shakira Kafero Roberts hit a hat-trick. Wootton Blue Cross welcome St Ives Town on Thursday.
