FAWNL: Over 2,000 see Peterborough United Women win

Peterborough United were watched by 2,328 in their FA Women’s National League Division 1 Midlands match at London Road.

Northern Premier Division

Derby County 5-0 Loughborough Lightning (Att: 375)
Fylde 2-4 Burnley

Burnley’s third win in three games put them top of the table, Fylde’s Amy Hughes had equalised but an Evie Priestley hat-trick ensured a Clarets victory.

Derby netted five against Loughborough to secure a first win at the third attempt, with braces from Amy Sims and Molly Sutherland, alongside Jess Camwell’s volley.

Southern Premier Division

Billericay Town 0-1 Ipswich Town
Bridgwater United 3-0 Plymouth Argyle
Milton Keynes Dons 2-1 Cheltenham Town (Att: 150)

MK Dons were the first to take points off promoted Cheltenham, as they rose to third in the table. A stoppage-time strike from Tricia Gould made the difference.

Ipswich got off the mark with the only goal at Billericay, Natasha Thomas netting soon after the hour mark.

Bridgwater also registered their first point with three goals against Plymouth, Laura Holden adding a brace to Maya Kendell’s very early goal.

Division 1 Midlands

Sporting Khalsa 0-4 Stourbridge (Att: 175)

Peterborough had a great turn out at London Road, where two own-goals helped them beat Lincoln 4-1, with Tara Kirk levelling and Cassie Steward also finding the net.

Newcomers Stourbridge are top on goal-difference from four other sides, after getting all four goals at Sporting Khalsa, three of them before the break.

Northampton’s first ever point at this level came in a 3-3 tie at Leafield, despite having trailed 2-0. They fell behind for a second time but Abbie Reboul’s 84th-minute goal earned a draw,

Division 1 North

Bradford City 0-1 Barnsley
Durham Cestria 2-2 Norton & Stockton Ancients (Att: 80)
Leeds United 4-0 Stockport County (Att: 156)

Barnsley lead the way with maximum points from the games, following a single-goal success at Bradford, where Nat Shaw lobbed the keeper a minute after the interval.

Leeds are fourth after a 4-0 result over Stockport, in which Abbie Brown scored in either half.

Durham Cestria still lead Norton on goal-difference after the pair drew 2-2. Norton came from behind to lead 2-1 but Poppy Pritchard levelled from 25 yards.

Division 1 South East

Cambridge City 0-2 Cambridge United

United leapfrogged City after their opening win of the campaign in the Cambridge derby. Sarah Wiltshire scored just three minutes in and doubled her tally in the latter stages.

Division 1 South West

AFC Bournemouth 1-1 Moneyfields
Exeter City 5-1 AFC St Austell (Att: 239)
Larkhall Athletic 2-3 Portishead (Att: 103)
Selsey P-P Southampton Womens

Exeter and Bournemouth went first and second respectively, City 5-1 winners over St Austell even though they were behind at the break, the Cherries held 1-1 at home by Moneyfields as Katie Shorter cancelled out Lucy Cooper’s opener at the death.

Portishead’s first points came from a 3-2 victory at Larkhall, where they twice found themselves behind.
