The Sussex County FA has appointed Nici Rice as manager of their Women’s Representative Squad.
Rice, 51, has the task of selecting a squad to compete in the Southern Counties Cup Competition this season.
Assisting her will be coaches Ian Hickley-Smith and Lee Hayes, with Carly Farrell as assistant coach and Princess Goodwin the physio.
Having made in excess of fifty appearances for Sussex, receiving a coveted County Cap, Rice is looking forward to the challenge of managing the side.
“It’s an absolute honour to be appointed as manager of the Sussex County FA Women’s Representative Squad. Putting on the county shirt was always a proud moment and I’m really excited about the new season. I look forward to working with the talented players we have across the county,” Nici told sussexfa.com.
With over thirty five years’ experience within football as a player, coach and manager, Rice has a wealth of football knowledge to draw upon.
During her playing career, she appeared for Shoreham, Whitehawk, Brighton & Hove Albion and Futsal Club Brighton, as well as a spell in the USA playing for North California All-Stars.
Her past managerial experience includes taking the reins at Chelsea Academy, Brighton & Hove Albion, Kent FA and the University of Brighton.
The new manager’s first competitive match in charge of the squad will be at home versus Essex on the evening of Wednesday 15th November, kick-off 7:30pm.
