Regional League Round-Up: QPR Girls and Wootton Bassett Town go top

QPR and Wootton Bassett Town went top of their respective Women’s Regional Leagues, while Bishops Lydeard, Ilkeston Town and Shrewsbury Town beat leaders.

EASTERN – Colney Heath’s Khan contains Crows

PREMIER – Harlow Town opened up an eight-point lead as they won 3-0 at AFC Dunstable and Royston Town were held 3-3 at home by Colney Heath, whose Samaira Khan hit a second-half hat-trick against the Crows. Peterborough Northern Star are fourth after beating Bedford 5-2, while Bowers & Pitsea won 5-1 at Haringey Borough.

1 NORTH – AFC Sudbury defeated second-placed East Bergholt United 4-2 and Kings Lynn Town netted four unanswered goals at Newmarket Town.

1 SOUTH – Hutton hit Wodson Park 5-1 for a fifth straight win, second-placed Millwall Lionesses got the only goal at Stevenage Development, while Lawford’s first victory came with a remarkable 9-5 scoreline at Hoddesdon Town Owls.

EAST MIDLANDS – Ilkeston Town beat South leaders

PREMIER – Peterborough United thrashed Kettering Town 10-1 in midweek as Kier Perkins contributing three goals.
Rotherham United were 8-3 winners over Leicester City Ladies with trebles from Lucy Ridley and Natalie Shaw,  Loughborough Students ran out 5-0 victors at Rise Park.

1 NORTH – Chesterfield went third with a 3-0 defeat of Lincoln Moorlands-Railway, Worksop Town won 4-2 at Arnold Town.

1 SOUTH – Ilkeston Town beat leaders Beaumont Park 3-1, allowing Notts County to gain ground with an 11-1 win at Thrapston Town, likewise Lutterworth Athletic whose Emily Sowler got three goals in a 5-2 success at Loughborough Foxes Vixens.

LEAGUE CUP 1ST ROUND – Woodlands knocked out Notts County Development with all their goals by Jody Scott in a 3-1 result.

LONDON & SOUTH EAST – Herne Bay progress on sudden-death pens

PREMIER – QPR Girls Development defeated third-placed Whyteleafe 4-2 to go top of the table.

LEAGUE CUP – Aylesford hit Eastbourne Town 6-1 and Dartford won 3-2 at Saltdean United in Group A, while in Group B Ashford Town (Middlesex) were 5-0 winners at Fulham with three for Ashley Cheatley and Dulwich Hamlet lost 1-0 at home t0 Denham United for whom Lauren Cox was on target.

GREATER LONDON PREMIER – The top of the table clash saw Hackney become the first to deny New London Lionesses victory, Amy Nicholson their scorer in a 1-1 tie. Leyton Orient Development ran out 7-3 winners at Godalming Town, Sutton United lost 2-1 at home to Watford Development and Victoire’s first win was 2-1 over Tottenham Hotspur 3rds.

SOUTH EAST COUNTIES LEAGUE CUP 2ND ROUND – After 120 goalless minutes, Herne Bay won 7-6 on sudden-death penalties away to Eastbourne United. Super subs featured as Rose Jump scored in Hassocks’ 2-1 win over Sittingbourne, while both Hannah Baker and Lia Skingley came off the bench to net as Phoenix Sports knocked out Newhaven 2-1. Other ties ended Lewes Foundation 3-0 Meridian, Worthing 4-1 AFC Littlehampton.

NORTH EAST – Hartlepool win seven-goal thriller

PREMIER – Savanna Robson bagged a brace, Caitlin Bates and Justine Robinson singles as Hartlepool United held off a fightback from second-placed hosts Harrogate Town to clinch a 4-3 win and rise to third spot.

1 SOUTH – Hepworth United put six past Bradford Park Avenue with two goals from Jolene Forrest.

NORTH WEST – Penrith fightback to win top two clash

PREMIER – Tranmere Rovers pipped Fleetwood Town Wrens 3-2 to move six points clear but from several games more than their title rivals, Wigan Athletic defeated Morecambe by a similar score and Crewe Alexandra are third following a 6-1 result against Mossley Hill Athletic.

1 NORTH – Penrith went four points ahead of Accrington Sports at the top when fighting back to beat them 2-1, goals from Abbie Forster and a Kim McCormick penalty.

1 SOUTH – Salford City Lionesses sank Liverpool Feds Reserves 8-1 to extend their advantage to seven points, Chester rose to third but only after having to battle for a 5-3 victory at basement side Wythenshawe Amateurs.

SOUTHERN – Bournemouth’s six of the best

PREMIER – AFC Bournemouth’s 2-0 win over Winchester City Flyers was their sixth in a row, Moneyfields sub Mia Adaway netted a treble in the 8-1 win against Ascot United, Abingdon United put seven past Newbury as did Oxford City against Woodley United but with two goals back for the latter.

ONE – Abbey Rangers and Abingdon Town remain unbeaten, the former winning 5-1 at Tilehurst Panthers, the latter 8-0 over New Milton Town. Bournemouth Sports beat Eastleigh 3-2, Mia Inglis got the only second-half goal as Southampton WFC Reserves edged Alton 4-3, Wycombe Wanderers Development drew 2-2 with their counterparts from AFC Bournemouth.

SOUTH WEST – Wootton Bassett Town go top

PREMIER – Wootton Bassett Town went top with a 3-2 victory over Middlezoy Rovers in which sub Hayley Huckin scored twice, Callington Town losing the leadership by the same scoreline at Bishops Lydeard for whom Amber Guy-Kemp struck twice. Ilminster Town’s Charlotte Pettinger scored the sole goal at Bideford, Keynsham Town Development’s Emily Plummer claimed all three at Torquay United and Portishead sent Marine Academy Plymouth to a 3-0 reverse with the visitors having Isabel Scott sent off.

1 NORTHERN – Leaders Frampton Rangers had a narrow 2-1 result against Chipping Sodbury Town, Cheltenham Town Development went second with a 7-0 victory at AEK Boco.

1 WESTERN – There were eight different scorers, including all four substitutes, as Feniton moved within goal-difference of first place with a 9-1 rout of Exeter & Tedburn Rangers.

BRISTOL SOCCERWORLD CUP 2ND ROUND – Bristol Ladies Union battled through 4-3 at Almondsbury with two apiece for Hannah Price and Sophie Price, Forest Green Rovers eliminated Laverstock & Ford 3-1 after extra-time. Plymouth Argyle Reserves’ Nicola Champion scored both goals in the win at Alphington. Weston Mendip were 5-2 victors at Oldland Abbotonians, Plympton thmuped hpsts Bude Town 10-0 with four for Samantha Metters and three from Shannon Workman, while Swindon Spitfires had a walkover at Pen Mill.

WEST MIDLANDS – Shrews beat top-of-the-table Telford

PREMIER – Redditch United ran in a dozen goals at Knowle with a hat-trick for Katie Ross-Baker, Sutton Coldfield Town moved second with a 4-1 result at Coventry Sphinx and Solihull Ladies United are third with all their five goals at Worcester City coming after the break.

1 NORTH – Shrewsbury Town are a point short of leaders AFC Telford United after defeating then 2-1 with efforts by Lauren Jones and Beth Francis. Shifnal Town had a good 4-0 win at Solihull Sporting and Sandwell took the points 4-1 at Sutton Coldfield Town Royals.

1 SOUTH – It’s now nine wins on the spin for Stourbridge after they defeated Droitwich Spa 4-0.
