Regional League Round-Up for Sunday 29 August

Two wins from two for Regional Premier Division sides Ashford Town (Middx), Dartford, Wroxham and Wymondham.

EASTERN – Wroxham and Wymondham win again

Premier – Wroxham were 5-2 winners over Kings Lynn with a Grace Birchall hat-trick, Wymondham won by the same result at St Ives Town to also make it nine points from three games. Haringey Borough beat Bowers & Pitsea 2-1, Colney Heath hit the bar four times and did find the net through Grainne Kellett at Luton Town, for whom Olivia Abraham scored in the 1-1 draw. Royston Town had a similar outcome at home to Bedford, after leading through debutant Bella Simmons.

1 North – Cambridge City DS took the points 2-1 at Biggleswade United to go top after back-to-back successes. Needham Market netted four times against Newmarket Town’s one.

1 South – Leigh Ramblers lead the table following a 3-0 result at Billericay Town DS, Hutton won 2-0 at East Bergholt United and AFC Sudbury replied to tie 1-1 with Cheshunt, who had lead through Karesha Iton.

LONDON & SOUTH EAST – Ashford Town (Middx) and Dartford double points tally

Premier – Alissa Down scored three times in the last dozen minutes in the 8-1 win over Aylesford by Ashford Town (Middx). Dartford’s Amy Green got two of their three goals in the 3-0 victory at Saltdean United to also continue a winning start, while Whyteleafe’s Ellie Pace equalised as their fixture with New London Lionesses finished all square at 1-1.

1 North – Dorking Wanderers edged Sport London E Benfica with a Sarah Chapman effort to record back-to-back wins, likewise Dulwich Hamlet Reserves who sunk hosts Watford DS 7-0. Hackney kicked off with a 2-0 win at promoted Walton Casuals.

1 South – Hastings United’s Sian Heather scored twice in a 3-1 defeat of Herne Bay, AFC Acorns came away from Meridian 4-0 winners and Newhaven sent Maidstone United to a 5-1 loss.

All the other six regional leagues commence their campaign next Sunday, 5 September.
