Rebecca Welch will become the first woman to referee in the Emirates FA Cup third round when ties are played over the second weekend of January.
Welch will take charge of the tie between Birmingham City and Plymouth Argyle at St Andrews on Saturday 8 January.
She had already became the first woman to referee in the EFL earlier in 2021, as well as in previous rounds of this season’s FA Cup.
The Durham match official was added to UEFA’s elite women’s referee list in December 2020.
