Portsmouth moved within two points of FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division Oxford United after a midweek win over Watford.

Over 250 fans saw Pompey strike twice in the opening 20 minutes at Havant & Waterlooville FC, to inflict a first defeat of the season on the former Championship side.

Dani Lane headed home at the back post, before Nicole Barrett fired an effort in off the upright to get her first goal for the club.

Hannah Haughton did well to deny Helen Ward a goal back close to the break, making the save in a one-on-one situation.

It was a third win in four for unbeaten Portsmouth, lifting them three points above third-placed London Bees, whom they host this Sunday.
