Liverpool Feds have signed centre-midfielder Filippa Savva, who has captained Cyprus U-19s and also played in all the most recent Euro qualifiers for her national team.
“Signing for Liverpool Feds is a great chance to make a new beginning after six years playing in Cyprus,” Savva said.
The Cyprus international says she is “looking forward to playing and helping the club achieve their goals as well as winning as many titles as possible.”
Although the centre midfielder has recently moved to Liverpool, she is already enjoying her new life in Merseyside: “My teammates and the staff are making me feel right at home, Liverpool is a very nice city and I am very much enjoying my stay here. I could live here for many years.”
Manager Fran Alonso admits that he didn’t think twice about bringing Savva in when the opportunity arose: “It’s fantastic for us to be able to bring in this type of young footballer. She has already a great amount of international experience but at the same time she is very keen to learn and work hard. Players like Filippa will help Liverpool Feds to take the step to the next level, ” Alonso assured.
Despite Savva’s good qualities, Alonso prefers to go step-by-step when it comes to making her debut with the first team: “We will be patient with her and make sure she adapts to the tempo and the intensity of the game in England before she plays for the first team, but she is training with us and I can say that tactically and ability wise I am very pleased at the level she is at.”
