Karen Carney and Mel Lawley have been called in to the England squad after Keira Walsh and Fran Kirby withdrew, reports thefa.com.

Walsh and Kirby, who both picked up slight knocks during weekend action for Manchester City and Chelsea respectively, will return to their clubs as a precautionary measure.

Carney has earned 134 caps since making her debut in 2005.

Having wracked up 37 appearances at youth level, Lawley broke into the senior team just over a year ago and will be hoping to add to her nine caps to date.

Phil Neville’s side will take on Austria on Thursday before entertaining Sweden at Rotherham United’s New York Stadium on Sunday.
