The latest FIFA/Coca-Cola Women’s World Ranking sees England take third spot from France, Scotland climb two places to a level best 19th, while USA remain top ahead of Germany.
Australia moved up two places to sixth thanks to wins over Brazil and Japan, plus a draw with hosts USA, at the Tournament of Nations.
Sweden are now ninth having also gained two positions on the back of their World Cup qualifying win away to Denmark.
Wales stayed 29th and Republic of Ireland are now just behind them after leapfrogging Finland, while Northern Ireland fell five places to 61st.
Venezuela overcame national difficulties to reach a best-ever place of 54th, China went forward two to 15th, Croatia climbed three to 50th and Jamaica jumped seven to 64th.
Ten teams returned to the ranking to bring the total up to 147 teams – its highest number in three years.
The next FIFA/Coca-Cola Women’s World Ranking will be published on 7 December 2018.
