Manchester City defender Esme Morgan has been forced to withdraw from the England squad after sustaining an injury at the weekend.

The 20-year-old became the latest in the Cityzens’ ranks to be side-lined, following a shin injury in Sunday’s Barclays FAWSL match against Tottenham Hotspur.

Head coach Sarina Wiegman will not be calling up a replacement, as England take on North Macedonia in the first of their Group D World Cup qualifying matches this Friday (kick-off 7pm BST) at St. Mary’s Stadium, Southampton. Click here to buy tickets.

The squad then travel to Luxembourg for their second group game at Stade de Luxembourg on 21 September (kick-off 7.15pm BST).
