England hit double figures in defeating hosts Latvia in their latest FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifying group game.
Ella Toone scored twice in the first dozen minutes in Riga, the first when burying a loose ball, the second after Beth Mead and Fran Kirby combined to set her up.
Millie Bright hit the woodwork, Ellen White tucked away the third goal when played in by Toone, Bright then finishing at the far post off a Kirby free kick.
Lauren Hemp hit the post but the keeper conceded a penalty for the follow-through, Enija-Anna Vaivode getting up to save White’s spot-kick and Mead’s follow-up.
White headed against the bar late in the first half, Mead got the first goal of the second half from a tight angle.
Toone completed her hat-trick from a more acute angle, Rachel Daly soon tapping in to make it 7-0 with 20 minutes left.
Beth England had a shot turned out for a corner, from which Leah Williamson found the far corner.
Georgia Stanway was next to get on the scoresheet, Mead then played in Daly to beat the keeper to the ball and take the score into double figures.
