Gemma Donnelly’s seventh signing ahead of Blackburn Rovers’ second season in the FA Women’s Championship is winger Leah Embley.
The 24-year-old had a short spell with Fylde before lockdown, having spent much of last season with National League rivals Huddersfield Town, and she was the FA WNL Division One Player of the Season when helping Burnley to promotion in 2018-19.
Donnelly told rovers.co.uk: “Leah has worked incredibly hard over the summer to best position herself for Championship football.
“She has impressed me over her several weeks of trials and whilst she understands the demand from us to continue to improve, she has a real determination to want to cement a regular starting place.”
Embley said: “It’s so good, I’ve worked so hard over the last few months to get a shot in the Women’s Championship.
“I’m just delighted and really glad to be here. It’s probably the longest I’ve been without a ball for about 15 years [during lockdown], so it’s good to be back playing.”
