Kent Football United had to come from two goals behind to win 5-3 after extra-time at Millwall Lionesses in the Combined Counties Women’s Cup.
Millwall play two divisions beneath the FA WNL newcomers but led 2-0 at the break from goals by Sian Fitzpatrick and Cansu Mentesh, in front of 137 fans at St Paul’s Sports Ground.
That advantage was cancelled out by the hour mark though, as the first pair of four goals by Amy Russ came with a volley after a flick over a defender and then some clever footwork inside the 18–yard box.
Shannan Drewe restored the lead for the Lionesses from the edge of the area but the visitors hit back again to force the additional half hour.
Russ and Chloe Francis were then on target to send KFU into the quarter-finals of the competition.
Wednesday’s other scheduled tie between Leyton Orient and Dulwich Hamlet at Mile End Stadium was rained off.
