Republic of Ireland were 1-0 winners over Wales with a Denise O’Sullivan strike in the Pinatar Cup third-place play off.

O’Sullivan hit a half-volley into the top corner of Olivia Clark’s goal to give Ireland an interval lead over Wales.

Ceri Holland volleyed wide for Wales before half-time but both Katie McCabe and Niamh Fahey could have doubled the advantage.

Sophie Ingle clipped the top of Ireland’s crossbar and Georgia Walters’ stoppage-time free kick and follow up were blocked, while an appeal for handball in the box was turned down.

Slovakia finished seventh with a 2-0 play off victory over Poland, Maria Mikolajova and Stela Semanova with second half goals.
