Hibs went behind to an unfortunate own-goal against Glasgow City at New Douglas Park, where Fiona Brown’s cut back was turned past her own keeper by Emma Brownlie. Sarah Crilly came off the bench to quickly double the lead with a header from Brown’s cross.

Rangers’ 3-1 result over Forfar has lifted them into second spot. Megan Foley’s early goal was added to on half-time by a deflected Clare Gemmell shot to put the Gers 2-0 up. The visitors pulled one back through Tori Sousa, only for Katie Turner to round off the scoring just after the hour mark.

Celtic hit Spartans for six with three goals in each half to leapfrog them into fourth place. Suzane Mulvey hit a hat-trick, Christie Murray got a couple and Kerry Montgomery was the other scorer.

Aberdeen climbed above Stirling University into sixth after defeating the students 3-1. Faye McDonald’s opener for the Dons was cancelled out on 24 minutes by Nicole Pullar but Nikki Smith and Chloe Fitzpatrick struck in the second half to seal the win.

Both the top two in SWPL 2 suffered defeat, leaders Herts going down 2-0 at home to third-placed Glasgow Girls and Hamilton beaten 2-1 at Hutchison Vale. Leigh Ferrol and Lauren Coleman got the goals for Glasgow, Kate Shepard and a Bryony Ross penalty put Vale in command with the Accies getting a late consolation.

Buchan edged a seven-goal thriller with basement side Queen’s Park.

Jeanfield Swifts got all the three goals at winless Inverness City, Jade MacDonald getting two and Danni McGinley the other goal.
