Charlton Athletic have brought in 23-year-old former Aston Villa and Bristol City defender Jodie Hutton who recently left Sheffield United.

Capped by England at U-18 and U-19 level, she played over 60 times and scored ten goals for Villa, winning the Championship with them and also later when at Bristol City..

Hutton told charltonafc.com: “I’m buzzing to get started. The club is heading in a great direction and has ambition. They have finished so high in the league the last few seasons.”

On her new manager, Karen Hills, she commented: “The style of play that Karen wants to play is aggressive and front footed which is exciting. I can’t wait to be a part of a team that has potential to win the league this season.”

Hutton was swiftly joined at the Addicks by another former Blades defender, Charlotte Newsham.

The 24-year-old also signed a one-year deal, saying: “I’m delighted to have signed with this club and I’m excited for the season to start. After speaking with Karen about her aims and ambitions for this team in the next few years, it felt like the right place for me to be in order to develop and take the next step in my career.”
