Rebecca Galbraith and Ami Robertson have collected the May 2022/23 Park’s Motor Group Scottish Women’s Premier League Player of the Month awards.
Galbraith wins the accolade for the first time having been nominated back in April 2021. She’s also the second Spartans player to win the award after Michaela McAlonie back in April 2019.
The striker had a prolific month as Spartans won all five of their matches in May. Galbraith scored seven goals and provided one assist. This included two hat-tricks, one against Motherwell and Aberdeen.
Galbraith ended the season as the joint-fourth top goalscorer alongside Celtic’s Amy Gallacher.
In Park’s Motor Group SWPL 2, Ami Robertson becomes the first ever Gartcairn player to win the award. The runners-up of the 2022/23 season had seven nominations out of the nine months with Robertson winning after previously being nominated twice, including April 2023.
Robertson had another prolific month, scoring four goals across their four matches. This included the only goals in their 1-1 draws against both Montrose and Boroughmuir Thistle.
The striker will be hoping to fire her side to glory on Sunday as they face Hamilton Academical in the SWPL Play-off Final at Broadwood Stadium (16:10 KO).
The nominees for the May Park’s Motor Goup SWPL award were Lauren Davidson (Glasgow City), Kirsty Howat (Rangers), and Lucy Sinclair (Hamilton Academical) and for the SWPL 2 award the nominees were Abby Robinson (Kilmarnock) and Morgan Steedman (St Johnstone).
