Wasps sting Coventry again

Crawley Wasps are into the semi-finals of the FAWNL Cup at the first attempt, with a second impressive win of the season away at Southern Premier title favourites Coventry United.

Kay Webber gave the Wasps a half-time lead away at Coventry and although the hosts levelled, Darcey James headed in the winner from a Naomi Cole corner.

Crawley take on Bolton Wanderers next Sunday for a place in the final.

Blackburn Rovers are through to the semi-finals with victory away to Huddersfield. They were ahead when Jess Holbrook’s free-kick was flicked on by Charlotte Stuart and after Charlotte Oates makes the initial save, the ball was turned into her own net by a Town player.

Four minute from the break, Lucy Sowerby rifled in the leveller from distance past Fran Stenson whom Rovers have signed on loan from Mamchester City.

The holders regained the lead 8 minutes after the interval, Jordan’s shot was parried into the path of Lagan Makin to finish into an empty net.

The favour was returned as Makin’s cross was palmed only to Jordan who poked  home at the second attempt.

Rovers now host Loughborough Foxes in the semi-finals next Sunday.

Dons through on penalties in Plate

South West Division 1 side Keynsham Town took Southern Premier MK Dons to penalties before bowing out in sudden death.

The Somerset side led twice, Leah Cudone levelling and Amy Gooderham doing likewise very late on.

The Dons eventually progressed with Alice Hughes converting the decisive spot-kick and they now entertain Liverpool Feds in the semi-finals on 3rd March.

Charlton and Blackburn to contest Reserve Cup

Charlton Athletic reached the Reserve Cup Final with all three goals of the game at Leicester City WFC, where Melanie Parreno, Georgia Pearch and Shamoy Campbell netted one apiece.

The Addicks will face Blackburn for the trophy after Rovers ran out 6-1 winners at Newcastle United.
