#FAWNL: Oxford United Women inflict Ipswich Town’s first defeat

Ipswich Town’s 100% record in the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier was ended abruptly by Oxford United.

Northern Premier

Middlesbrough 0-2 Derby County
Nottingham Forest 1-1 Burnley (Att: 76)

Derby opened up a six-point lead with victory at Middlesbrough, where Sophie Domingo and Emily Joyce found the nets. Fourth-placed Nottingham Forest were held at home by Burnley, Rachel Brown’s goal cancelled out by Courtney Willis.

Southern Premier

Chichester & Selsey 1-0 Bridgwater United (Att: 95)
Milton Keynes Dons 3-1 Plymouth Argyle (Att: 101)
Oxford United 3-0 Ipswich Town (Att: 263)
Portsmouth 2-0 London Bees (Att: 146)

Oxford United went second when becoming the first side to take points off leaders Ipswich, with goals from Beth Lumsden, Daisy McLachlan and Sophie Baker. Portsmouth beat London Bees as Jaime Gotch and Ava Rowbotham struck, Chichester & Selsey recorded only a second win of the season when beating Bridgwater with an early Jane Yeates goal, MK Dons opening victory lifted them above visitors Plymouth as Marianne Taho and Laura Bright scored following Argyle’s equaliser.

Division 1 Midlands

Long Eaton United 4-1 Lincoln City
Peterborough United 1-3 Wem Town

Long Eaton had a big 4-1 win over Lincoln to leapfrog them into second spot, Tiana Hicks twice on target. Wem went sixth with a 3-1 result at Peterborough.

Division 1 North

Liverpool Feds 3-1 Barnsley (Att: 70)
Newcastle United 4-1 Stockport County (Att: 65)

Liverpool Feds needed two goals in the last 20 minutes to see off Barnsley, Newcastle had to come from behind at the break to beat Stockport aided by a Katie Barker double.

Division 1 South East

Actonians 3-3 Billericay Town (Att: 60)
Queens Park Rangers 1-3 Hashtag United (Att: 69)

Hashtag hit top spot with three points at QPR thanks to Amy Leigh-Abrehart’s hat-trick, Billericay losing the leadership after sharing six goals at Actonians where they had trailed 3-1.

Division 1 South West

Chesham United 0-1 Cheltenham Town

Cheltenham went five points clear with a Tamzin Hayward winner at Chesham.

Loughborough Lightning 1-3 Huddersfield Town (Att: 56)
