#FAWNL: Five sides continue winning starts in Premier Divisions

Fylde and Wolves made it back-to-back wins in the FA Women’s National League Northern Premier, Ipswich, Portsmouth and Southampton in the Southern.

Fylde and Wolves have six points after their first two games of the Northern Premier campaign. Faye McCoy hit a hat-trick as Fylde came from 2-1 down to win at Stoke, Amber Hughes’ first-half effort was enough for Wanderers to defeat Derby.

Freya Thomas and Jade Arber gave Nottingham Forest an interval lead at Burnley, despite Dominique Cooper netting first for the Clarets. Substitutes Mai Moncaster and Rosie Axten added one each late on for a 4-1 scoreline.

Brighouse and Huddersfield won at Hull and Middlesbrough respectively, Loughborough beat Sheffield FC 3-0 for the only home points in the division.

Ipswich, Portsmouth and Southampton made it back-to-back wins in the Southern Premier, Blue Wilson scored the Tractor Girls’ goal against Crawley from 25 yards, Jazz Younger’s effort for Pompey at Cardiff proved decisive and Leeta Rutherford twice headed home for the Saints at Plymouth.

Chichester & Selsey edged Oxford with a Sophie Phelps finish, Gillingham finished with ten players but still beat Hounslow 2-0,
London Bees sent Keynsham to a 5-1 defeat and MK Dons’ Mollie Coupar earned her side a point against Bridgwater who had led through Chloe Gilroy.

Solihull, Long Eaton and Doncaster each have maximum points from two Division 1 Midlands fixtures, Lois Jefferies bagged a brace for Moors at Holwell, Long Eaton hit hosts Wem for six and Sophie Scargill netted from 20 yards for defeat Sporting Khalsa.

Peterborough’s first game at this level brought a 5-1 success at Bedworth and featured a Keir Perkins treble, Leek also chalked up their opening FAWNL victory at Lincoln thanks to a Cassie Hyde header, while Boldmere versus Burton stayed 0-0.

Norton, Liverpool Feds and Chorley are all on six points after their second Division 1 North results, the Ancients thrashed Alnwick, Feds won at Stockport and Chorley saw off Leeds with an Emma Hickson winner.

Chester le Street’s Nichole Havery scored twice in a 4-2 victory over FC United, Durham Cestria’s Amy Hargrave got a crucial second goal for a 2-1 win at Bradford.

Billericay, QPR and Hashtag United are the Division 1 South East‘s top three with six points a piece. Mia Howlett scored Billericay’s winner against the Dons, Rangers won 3-1 at KFU, while Kelly Weatherall got a couple for Hashtag after Actonians had equalised.

Cambridge United edged Enfield 2-1, Cambridge City came through 3-2 at Harlow and London Seaward sent Norwich City home beaten 3-0.

Exeter lead Maidenhead and Southampton WFC on goal-difference at the top of Division 1 South West. Connie Pengelly levelled for the Grecians following Katie Fripp’s opener for Bournemouth, while the Magpies played out a goalless draw at Southampton WFC.

Chesham beat Buckland 8-3 in a goal-fest, Gemma Fraser with four, Katie Owers scoring three. Rhi Lewis levelled five minutes from time to give Swindon a 1-1 draw at Portishead, Cheltenham got all four goals of the game at Poole.
