Katie Wilkinson won The FA Women’s Championship Player of the Month award for December after scoring five goals in three league games for Sheffield United.
She ended the year with her first senior hat-trick against Leicester City, following on from goals in big games against London City Lionesses and London Bees earlier in the month, while also scoring twice in a Conti Cup tie to set up a quarter-final encounter with holders Manchester City.
Wilkinson told sufc.co.uk: “I’m buzzing to finish the year off as player of the month. I feel like I’ve been made to work for it after being nominated three times.
“December was a tough month for us, we had some difficult fixtures but got the job done in every single one of them, so to contribute and help the team in each of them is the most satisfying thing.”
Manager Carla Ward said: “I’m delighted for Wilko. She’s finished the year really well, not only with her goals but she has contributed to the team brilliantly and this is a thoroughly deserved award.”
