Everton Women’s Gabby George suffers ruptured ACL

Everton have confirmed that defender Gabby George fully ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament during the Women’s FA Cup victory at Bristol City last Monday.

England international George sustained the knee injury in the first minute of the match played at Ashton Gate, reports evertonfc.com.

The 23-year-old has begun a period of rehabilitation at USM Finch Farm.

She expressed her devastation at the season-ending injury and determination to return ‘stronger, fitter and faster’ in a Twitter post:

Meanwhile, Everton’s new signing Hayley Raso sustained a broken nose while on international duty with Australia which required surgery.
