Charlton Athletic Women have signed former Bristol City forward Ella Rutherford for the 2020/21 season.

Rutherford (20) made 19 appearances for the Robins in the WSL but went out on loan to both Crystal Palace and Leicester City in 2019-20.

Rutherford told the club’s website she was “really excited” to have signed and had “enjoyed training here during pre-season”.

“This club has great ambition. I wanted to come here, work hard and get the club where it should be, because there is a great group of girls here and I feel like we can really do something this season,” she said.

Rutherford has represented England from U-15s through to U-19s and won the WSL 2’s Breakout Star award for the 2017/18 season when with Millwall Lionesses.
