Dundee United Women and Thistle Weir promoted to #SBSSWPL 2

Dundee United and Hibernian U-23s won Scottish League Division 1 North and South respectively but it was Thistle Weir promoted from the latter, while Ayr United won the 2 West title-decider.

SWFL 1 North – Dundee United celebrate at Tannadice

Dundee United sent fourth-placed Cove Rangers to a 7-2 defeat in clinching the SWFL 1 North championship, in front of 423 spectators at Tannadice. East Fife had to settle for the runners-up spot after being held 2-2 at home by Dunfermline Athletic, who will finish fourth if they beat Buchan next Sunday.

Inverness City were 4-0 winners at Dee Ladies, Buchan defeated Aberdeen U-23s 4-2, Raith Rovers leapfrogged Westdyke into seventh when edging them 3-2 away and Deveronvale had a 5-3 result over Stirling University Development.

SWFL 1 South – Hibs U-23s are champions but Thistle Weir go up

Hibernian U-23s clinched top spot with a 7-0 thrashing of Rangers Development as Nicole Rutherford netted a treble, while Celtic Academy in second went down 3-1 at Westerlands. With neither of the top two eligible for promotion, the spot in SWPL 2 went to third-placed Thistle Weir. They hit Blackburn United for six with the aid of a Loren Christie hat-trick, to end up a point ahead of Queens Park who won 5-2 at Cumbernauld Colts.

Renfrew made it into the top half on goal-difference with a 4-0 beating of Boroughmuir Thistle, Morton won the basement battle 2-1 at Falkirk to avoid last place.

SWFL 2 – Ayr win title decider

Division 2 West went down to the wire, as Ayr United won it with a 5-1 success against Kilmarnock U-23s, who therefore finished as runners-up. Pollok United cemented third spot with six goals past Rutherglen, Bishopston beat Kilwinning 2-1 to take fourth and it was fifth position for United Glasgow, as Glennifer Thistle completed a winless campaign with a 4-0 loss.

Airdrie stayed top of 2 Central with a 10-0 defeat of West Park United, Glasgow City Development in second handed out a 29-0 drubbing to East Kilbride, ahead of the top two’s meeting on Thursday. Hamilton Academical U-23s won 2-1 at Stenhousemuir,  Glasgow Girls Development hit Murieston United 6-1, Hawick United beat Broxburn Athletic 4-2 and there was a 1-1 draw between Cumbernauld Colts Yellows and Motherwell Development.

Kelty Hearts last week won the 2 East title and ended with a 6-1 defeat of Dundee City, third-placed Edinburgh Caledonia put five past Hearts Development, Dryburgh Athletic did one better at East Fife Violets, while Lothian signed off with a first victory of the season, 4-3 over Jeanfield Swifts Development.
