Dons hold Hibs in Scottish Women’s Premier League

The top four of the Scottish Women’s Premier League all won in midweek but fifth-placed Hibernian were held at home by Aberdeen.

Dundee United 0-2 Hearts
Glasgow Women 0-2 Spartans
Hibernian 0-0 Aberdeen
Glasgow City 3-0 Motherwell
Hamilton Academical 0-7 Celtic
Rangers 5-0 Partick Thistle

Glasgow City remained top, Emily Whelan’s opener against Motherwell was added to by a Lauren Davidson double.

Second-placed Celtic scored seven at Hamilton, Natasha Flint getting her first two goals for the team, one from the penalty spot. Shen Menglu also scored twice, with one each for Natalie Ross, Maria Mcaneny and Livvy Chance.

Rangers put five goals past Partick Thistle but four of those came after the break. Emma Watson broke the deadlock,  Jenny Danielsson later bagging a brace, Jodi McLeary and Kayla McCoy one apiece.

Aberdeen’s draw at Hibernian moved them two points clear of the relegation play-off spot, Spartans moved into the top-six with second-half efforts from Caley Gibb and Becky Galbraith at Glasgow Women.

Hearts had a similar result at Dundee United, where both their goals came before the break. Ciara Grant struck first from the spot, Emma Brownlie doubled the advantage.
