Dawn Scott, The FA’s Senior Women’s physical performance manager, will step down from her role at the end of September.

Having supported the Team GB Football squad at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Scott now seeks a step up into a management role that will give her wider leadership responsibilities overseeing a multi-disciplinary team.

Scott, who rejoined The FA in 2019, has worked for over two decades overseeing the physical high performance support for the USA and England Senior Women’s teams.

Previously she spent nine years with The FA as head of sports science and supported England’s run to the 2009 UEFA EURO final. Prior to her return to England Scott worked with US Soccer, playing a key role in USA’s FIFA World Cup wins in 2015 and 2019.
Scott’s knowledge and experience working with athletes in a high-performance environment has been instrumental in developing innovative and bespoke support for women and improving the fitness, recovery and nutrition of England Women’s players over the last two years.

The FA’s director of women’s football, Baroness Sue Campbell, said: “Dawn’s impact on individual players has been immense. Every player knows she has their performance and welfare at heart and her detailed preparation and execution are world-class.

“We have been enormously privileged to have had Dawn work with us for the past two years. She is meticulous in her work and sets very high performance standards. Her care and concern for every player has been exceptional and we know they will miss her greatly.

“We respect and support Dawn’s decision to further her career in a senior management role outside the The FA and we wish her every success in the future.”

Dawn Scott said: “It has been a privilege to come back home and support England and Team GB over the past 20 months – the players have been brilliant to work with and I will miss those interactions.

“Having worked in the field for over 20 years now, I am still passionate about supporting the growth of women’s football, as well as my own professional development. I plan to take some time out and initially work on some exciting projects with FIFA aimed at developing physical performance strategies designed specifically for women.

“I wish Sarina and her team the best of luck, and will be supporting from the stands next summer.”
