Linfield maintained their nine-point lead in the Danske Bsnk NIFL Women’s Premiership, with a 3-0 defeat of Sion Swifts on Wednesday 1st August.
Megan Bell set-pieces gave Linfield a two-goal cushion at New Midgley Park, as her corner was deflected into her own net at the near post by Tyler Toland, before a 74th-minute free kick flew straight in.
Just three minutes later, the more clinical hosts scored the third and final goal to make sure of all three points, Lousie McFrederick scoring from close range via a Kirsty McGuinness cross.
Second-placed Cliftonville – who have two games in hand on the leaders – got the only goal of the game with Glentoran.
The Glens had the best of the chances in the first half when Rachel Rogan came close to opening the scoring with a one-on-one with Caoimhe Callaghan, who did well to come off her line and block.
Niamh Connolly opened the scoring in the 53rd minute for the Reds and as Glentoran searched for the equaliser, shots from Kellie Bailie were blocked.
