Linfield kept their faint Danske Bank Women’s Premiership title hopes alive with an impressive 4-2 victory over Sion Swifts, who are now mathematically out of the race.
Swifts’ Kirsty McGuinness opened the scoring against her former club with a goal after two minutes, when played through by Erin McLaughlin but Linfield levelled the score 20 minutes later with Alison Smyth striking from the edge of the area.
Linfield were ahead as Victoria Carleton’s cross brought an own-goal by Tasmin McCarter and it should have been 3-1 early in the second half, however Caoimhe Callaghan saved Smyth’s penalty.
Their third goal did arrive through in the 71st minute, Katie Dickson scoring with her first touch after Smyth’s initial header goalward.
Casey Howe made sure of victory when turning in Rebecca Bassett’s cross, while McGuinness grabbed her second from a late spot-kick.
