Chelsea were 3-1 winners over ten-player Manchester United in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup semi-final.

Chelsea struck twice in a five-minute spell, Pernille Harder turning Aoife Mannion inside out before slotting past Sophie Baggaley, Jessie Fleming heading in the second following a Niamh Charles cross which the visitors could not clear.

Manchester United did hit back immediately with Jackie Groenen’s backheel setting up Vilde Bøe Risa for an angled drive past Zećira Mušović, only for Chelsea to restore their two-goal cushion by the break as Jess Carter turned in a Guro Reiten cross.

Sam Kerr came off the bench after returning from the Asian Cup, only to be taken out by a challenge from Baggaley, who was consequently shown the red card.

Manchester City host Spurs in the second semi-final on Thursday (3 February) 7pm kick-off, live on the BBC Red Button, BBC i-player, BBC Sport Website and FA Player.
