Sky Sports and the BBC have made their broadcast selections for the opening weekend of the 2022/23 Barclays Women’s Super League season, with Tottenham Hotspur Stadium set to host the opening game of the campaign.
The return of England’s top division on the weekend of 10-11 September will see Tottenham Hotspur welcome Manchester United to north London as the two teams collide on Saturday 10 September, live on Sky Sports – kick-off is at 12.30pm. Rehanne Skinner’s club still own the record attendance in the Barclays Women’s Super League – with 38,262 watching the north London derby with Arsenal in 2019.
The following day will see champions Chelsea, once again led by Emma Hayes, open their season at Stamford Bridge in a London derby with West Ham United. The match with the Hammers will be shown live on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer, and kicks-off at 12.30pm.
The final match of the weekend being shown live will come from Manchester City’s Academy Stadium with Gareth Taylor’s side hosting fellow UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifiers, Arsenal. The match will kick-off at 7pm on Sky Sports.
Remaining Barclays Women’s Super League matches will be streamed on The FA Player on the opening weekend, with Brighton & Hove Albion hosting Aston Villa at AMEX Stadium (2pm), Reading welcoming newly promoted Liverpool to the Select Car Leasing Stadium (2pm), and Everton facing Leicester City at Walton Hall Park (1pm).
Matches not selected for broadcast throughout the season will be available through The FA Player. Fans overseas should check their local listings for broadcast details. Countries without a broadcast deal will see all matches available on The FA Player.
The Barclays Women’s Championship, kicking-off three weeks earlier on August 20-21, will see all matches for the first two weeks be streamed live on The FA Player subject to kick-off times. Matches can be seen below.
The Barclays Women’s Championship will see one fixture per week streamed on The FA Player throughout the season after week two, with match highlights available for all other fixtures the following day.
