Bristol City Women’s new manager is Tanya Oxtoby, the 36-year-old making the step up from her role as assistant coach at Birmingham City Women.
Kevin Hamblin, chairman of Bristol City Women told bcfc.co.uk: “We are thrilled to have secured Tanya as the new manager of the Vixens.
“As someone that has successfully made the transition from player to coach/manager, the board was unanimous in believing she has all the right qualities to take the team forward.”
Oxtoby, who hails from Australia, has a wealth of previous experience including assistant coach for both the Perth Glory Women and Australian Women’s U-20s.
During her time coaching Perth Glory, she helped guide them to their only Premiers Plate, winning the Australian W-league, as well as their first ever grand final appearance.
She has also previously undertaken the role of director of development at Notts County Ladies as well as combining her playing career at the Doncaster Belles with managing the Nottingham Forest Ladies back in 2012.
Oxtoby said: “It’s been a whirlwind couple of days, but I’m really excited and grateful for the opportunity and I’m looking forward to getting pre-season underway.
“The player pathway here at City is massively important and speaks to me as a coach and manager. From my perspective, it is something that really appealed to me and brought me here.
“Every WSL team now needs to be planning two or three years in advance, there are some exciting times with new teams coming up from WSL2, it’s great for women’s sport and more specifically women’s football.”
Oxtoby will join up with the Vixens squad when they return for pre-season training on Monday, July 9th.
