Carla Ward has made her first addition to the Sheffield United Women’s squad ahead of the 2019/20 season with the arrival of former London Bees striker Katie Wilkinson.

Wilkinson, 24, scored 10 goals for the Bees across the two seasons she spent at The Hive after previous spells at Birmingham City and Aston Villa.

The forward missed the start of the 2018/19 season due to injury after ending the 2017/18 campaign with 8 goals in 12 games after joining the Bees in January.

Wilkinson made her return to action against the Blades when Ward’s side were beaten 2-0 last November, and now the striker is looking forward to lining up for Sheffield United this season.

“The main thing that brought me here was when I sat down with Carla. I came and had a look at the facilities and I just think the attitude and the direction of the club on both the men’s and women’s side is exactly mirroring how I want to go, Wilkinson told sufc.com.

“As a striker I’ve got to be scoring goals and obviously, coming into a new team I want to be able to get to know and gel with the girls along with earning my place in the team.”
