Blackburn Rovers Ladies have signed Erica Cunningham from IFK Norrkoping and Leicester City’s Luana Zajmi in a loan deal.

Versatile American-born defender Erica Cunningham spent 2021 in Sweden with IFK Norrkoping in the Elitettan, earlier having a successful four-year spell in Switzerland, where she helped FF Lugano qualify for the Champions League and later played in the competition for FC Zurich.

Luana Zajmi is a 19-year-old Slovenian youth international, who joins on loan from Leicester City until the end of the season.

The versatile midfielder joined the Foxes in the summer from ZNK Pomurje, with who she gained UWCL experience.

She made her debut for Leicester earlier this season in the Conti Cup against Manchester City.

Final addition

Gemma Donnelly made one late addition to her squad, with England U19 international Tara Bourne coming in on loan from Manchester United.

The 18-year-old – who can operate in both midfield and defence – had earlier been loaned out to Sheffield United.

Bourne made her Manchester United senior debut last season in the FA Cup and was also named in several of their matchday squads.
