Blackburn Rovers received the FAWPL Northern Division trophy after beating Stoke City 3-0 at Ewood Park.

The Potters looked to be party poopers as they had the ball in the net after Danielle Hill had tipped Cassie Hyde’s header onto the crossbar, however, the rebound from Emily Owen was ruled offside.

Natasha Flint then fired Rovers in front from 20 yards midway through the first half.

Natalie Hall made a good save from Lynda Shepherd moments after the interval but Saffron Jordan followed up to double the lead.

Jordan turned provider in the 70th minute, laying the ball off for Jess Holbrook to slot home.

Blackburn are now seven clear at the top on fifty points with two games to go and Stoke need to win their final match to be certain of fourth place.

Fylde got the only goal of the game at home to Nottingham Forest.

The home side broke away at speed after clearing a second-half corner and a low cross into the box was turned home by Danielle Young.

Erin Thompson threatened an equaliser but Fylde goalkeeper Alex Brooks was equal to it.

While Fylde can still end up fifth in the table, ninth position is now the best Nottingham Forest can hope for.

Coventry United made sure of a top five finish as they defeated Swindon Town 7-0.

Lois Jefferies headed home in the first minute and then chipped in a second, Helen Dermody also getting a first-half brace, including a penalty.

Jefferies completed her hat-trick via the post, with Amber Hughes and Alison Hall adding a goal each.

The result means Coventry could still catch fourth-placed Lewes but for Swindon it ends a very difficult campaign of twenty-two defeats.
