Birmingham City Women have broken their transfer record to sign Brazilian international Ivana Fuso from Manchester United.
The 22-year-old forward, who spent the 2022/23 campaign on loan at Frauen Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen, has signed a two-year deal.
She received her first call-up for Brazil in January 2021 for the SheBelieves Cup, making her debut in that tournament against Argentina and has since gone on to make a further three appearances.
Speaking to BluesTV, Fuso said: ‘I’m really excited and I can’t wait to get started. I like the project with this club, I think they have big aims and they want to achieve big things.
“I want to challenge myself and I believe in this project. I believe also in what this team can do. I needed a new challenge and a fresh start.”
Technical Director, Hope Powell CBE, said: “The signing of Ivana is a statement of intent for this club. Birmingham City Women have a rich history, it is on the rise again and this is the calibre of player we want to attract to this Football Club.
“The women’s team has an important role to play in the club’s transformation. The foundations are being built to help us get back to the highest levels of the game.
“I am delighted that Ivana has chosen this club as the place to continue her footballing journey, and I cannot wait to see her in action.”
