Abingdon United first Regional Premier champions of the season

Abingdon United won the Southern Women’s Regional League title-decider to become the first side promoted to the FAWNL this season.

EASTERN – AFC Sudbury go second

Premier – Stevenage stayed top when defeating Kings Lynn Town 4-1, AFC Sudbury up to second with a Holly Kennard double in a 4-2 result at Wroxham. Needham Market substitute Eloise Ward helped them up to third with a goal in the 2-1 victory over Royston Town, Haringey Borough edged a nine-goal thriller at Bedford.

1 North – There were no home goals as the top three won away, Charlene Moreton with both for Biggleswade United at Wootton Blue Cross, AFC Dunstable got three at Newmarket Town, St Ives Town’s Annie Posnett netting the only one at Fakenham Town.

1 South – Barking extended their lead to seven points, thumping Cheshunt 9-1 away while Hutton drew 4-4 with Lawford. The latter led 4-1 but Lilly Bueggeln saw red after 52 minutes and Chloe Woolaway replied twice. Wodson Park got all five goals at Grays Athletic, Billericay Town Devs’ Layla Kenly scored four of their six at East Bergholt United.

EAST MIDLANDS – Ilkeston stun league leaders in Cup

Premier – Rotherham United beat Basford United 3-2, with substitute Molly Corke among the goals.

League Cup Quarter-Finals – Ilkeston Town knocked out league leaders Notts County 4-0 away from home, Lincoln United won 3-0 at Anstey Nomads despite a red card for Rosie Davidson on 47 minutes. Arnold Eagles’  Natasha Leach hit a hat-trick to edge out Chesterfield 3-2, Oughtibridge WM progressed 3-1 at Northampton Town Devs.

League Plate Quarter-Finals – Sherwood overcame Grimsby Borough 4-3 on penalties following a 0-0 deadlock, Nottingham Trent University’s Bailey Sipos got the single goal against SJR Worksop. Loughborough Foxes Vixens’ Renae Huggan-Broughton netted four of their six at Mansfield Hosiery Mills, Thrapston Town won 3-0 over West Bridgford.

LONDON & SOUTH EAST – Benfica cause cup shock

Premier – Ebbsfleet United are third after defeating Aylesford 4-2, AFC Acorns put three points between themselves and New London Lionesses whom they beat 2-1 away.

1 North – Brentford missed an opportunity to go top when going down 1-0 to an Annie Hewitt goal at Denham United, Whyteleafe won 3-1 at Hackney.

1 South – Hastings United dropped their first points when held 1-1 at home by Welling United, Herne Bay beat Steyning Town 3-0.

League Cup Quarter-Finals – Sport London E Benfica had a fine 3-2 victory over higher division Saltdean United, Fulham substitute Ede Buchele got the decider at 3-2 after a fightback from hosts Dorking Wanderers. Chloe Winchester came on to net a couple in Worthing’s 3-1 result at Sutton United, Dartford defeated Dulwich Hamlet by the same score.

League Trophy Quarter-Finals – Clapton went through 4-2 after extra-time with a Larissa Vieira double at Eastbourne United, Newhaven won 3-0 at Dulwich Hamlet Reserves, Ashford United’s Rebecca Janes got the only-goal at Leatherhead.

NORTH EAST – Alnwick sink second-placed South Shields 

Premier – Alnwick Town won 4-2 at second-placed South Shields, Lauren Tate got two in the first 14 minutes as Hull United beat Harrogate Town 3-1 away. Jessica Round’s 80th-minute breakthrough saw Redcar Town beat Blyth Town, Wakefield’s Neve Renwick bagged a brace for a 2-2 tie at Sunderland West End.

1 North – Leaders Wallsend BC Reserves held off Washington 3-2, Gateshead were 6-3 winners at Norton & Stockton Ancients Reserves with hat-tricks for Christine Murray and Jessica Richardson, three also for Robyn Foster as Hartlepool United put five past Guisborough Town. Spennymoor Town’s Autumn Colledge scored both in a 2-1 win at Chester le Street United, likewise Thornaby’s Sophie Wood to beat Bishop Auckland 2-0, while Hartlepool Pools Youth sent West Allotment Celtic to a 4-1 defeat.

1 South – Altofts gained ground on second-placed Handsworth, 3-2 victors with Naomi Malcolm’s 87th-minute goal. Barnsley FC Ladies beat Sheffield United Foundation 3-1 away, Harworth Colliery tied 2-2 with Sheffield Wednesday helped by Sophie Thompson’s double, sub Molly Wilde on target for the Owls. Bradford Park Avenue had a 2-0 result over Ripon City, Ossett United hit six at Millmoor, Farsley Celtic Juniors’ 8-2 defeat of York RI featured four from Sarah Lawn, three for Shauna Hill.

NORTH WEST – Seven-goal FC United up to second

Premier – FC United of Manchester’s 7-3 scoreline against Mossley Hill Athletic was led by Olivia Dixon’s ten-minute treble. Salford City Lionesses went down 2-1 to visitors Crewe Alexandra, Cheadle Town Stingers’ Jessica Coulman got the one goal at Darwen.

1 North – Haslingden beat Morecambe 4-0, third versus second ended 3-3 as substitute Darcie Dixon scored for Penrith and Lily Hambly netted two for Blackpool. Carlisle United came away from Chorley Devs with a 4-3 result, Bolton Wanderers won 4-1 at Sir Tom Finney.

1 South – Wins for the top three; Runcorn Linnets 8-0 over Northwich Vixens, Bury AFC 4-1 versus Altrincham and  Poulton Vics 3-0 against Wythenshawe Amateurs.

Argyle Sports Kit Cup Quarter-Finals – Fleetwood Town Wrens were 2-1 extra-time winners at Accrington Stanley, Warrington Wolves went through 3-2 at West Didsbury & Chorlton, Curzon Ashton 4-1 against Hindley.

Argyle Sports Kit Plate Quarter-Finals – Tranmere Rovers progressed 4-3 penalties at Chester after a 3-3 tie, Preston North End put out Blackburn CSC 4-2, Penwortham Town pipped BRNESC 1-0, while Workington Reds had a walkover at Alder.

SOUTHERN – Abingdon United promoted to FAWNL

Premier – Abingdon United clinched their first-ever promotion to the fourth tier of the pyramid, with a 2-0 title-deciding win over Ascot United. Wycombe Wanderers’ Kine Andersen got the game’s only goal at Eastleigh, Bournemouth Sports beat Oxford City 2-1, Abingdon Town downed Winchester City Flyers 5-2 whose Hannah Chalk was dismissed.

1 North – Woodley United took the title 2-0 in another decider at Milton United, Penn & Tylers Green got all five goals at Carterton, Caversham United’s Stephanie Nelson scored twice for a 2-2 draw at Eversley & California.

1 South – Abbey Rangers 2-1 defeat of Rushmoor was down to a Lauren Timbrell double, Woking won 4-2 at Selsey Devs.

SOUTH WEST –  Forest stay first 

Premier – Forest Green Rovers beat Bishops Lydeard 4-2, as Katie Jones’ double helped keep them top. Bristol Rovers’ substitute Georgia Vandries got the winner 2-1 at Royal Wootton Bassett Town,  Torquay United and Liskeard Athletic tied 2-2, Ilminster Town saw off Sherborne Town 2-1.

1 East – Pucklechurch Sports put four away at AEK Boco, there were 2-0 wins for Frome Town at Middlezoy and  Paulton Rovers over Weston super Mare, while Weymouth ran out 6-1 winners at Stockwood Wanderers.

1 North – St Vallier downed leaders Frampton Rangers 2-1 away, substitute Morgan Wollen gave SGS Olveston United a 3-2 success at Oldland Abbotonians.

1 West – The top two drew as Saltash United sub Hayley Ranachan scored to hold Marine Academy Plymouth 1-1, Feniton beat Bideford 4-0.

WEST MIDLANDS – Solihull Sporting hold Harriers

Premier – Solihull Sporting drew 3-3 at top-of-the-table Kidderminster Harriers, Sutton Coldfield Town closed in winning 3-1 at Coundon Court. Worcester City edged Lye Town 3-2, likewise Lichfield City over Crusaders with two from Charlotte Leedham, Shrewsbury Town beat Burton Albion 2-1.

1 North – Shifnal Town’s Rebecca-Lee Bown netted three in 7-2 result at Port Vale, Walsall Wood won 7-0 at Walsall Women with trebles by Natasha Baptiste ad Taylor Davies, Darlaston Town went one better against Wyrley. AFC Telford United defeated Coventry City 5-0, City of Stoke beat Tamworth 2-0.

1 South – The two teams with perfect form met, with Coventry Sphinx overcoming Knowle 2-0. Long Itchington were 3-0 down at half-time but Droitwich Spa’s Abby Hawkeswood saw red with Lara Finn’s double aiding an amazing 4-3 turnaround. Bewdley Town had Jasmine Crowther sent off in a 3-2 home defeat to Sedgley & Gornal United, Kingfisher drew 1-1 with Worcester City Devs, Rugby Town won 2-0 at Leamington Lions, as did Rugby Borough at Westfields.
