Sheffield United Women’s new head coach is former Championship-winning Leicester City boss Jonathan Morgan.
Morgan spent seven years with the Foxes, leading them to promotion in 2021 and was named LMA Manager of the Year.
“I’m delighted to take up the opportunity,” said Morgan.
“When they came in and we had the conversation, I knew straight away it was the right opportunity, not just for myself, but for my family and I knew I could give something to the club as well. To be here now at Sheffield United is
something I’m really proud of and I’m looking forward to seeing what we can do together.”
Morgan becomes the club’s first full-time women’s team head coach and joins from a spell at Burnley where he took over the reins in May last year. The Clarets remained unbeaten in the FA Women’s National League with eight wins and four draws from 12 league games under Morgan during the 2022/23 season.
Stephen Bettis, United’s chief executive officer, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Jonathan to the club and wish him every success. The fact that he’s our first full-time head coach affirms our commitment to women’s football at a very exciting time as Sheffield United look to enhance the club’s name within the women’s game.”
Morgan will take charge of the Blades for the first time against Crystal Palace on 26 February.
